New Car!

We got a new car - one which I think the pups are going to LOVE riding around in. There is plenty of room in the backseat for one of those hammock thingies and plenty of cargo area to take their crates AND our suitcases (mission impossible before!).

Buzz's diabetes has been a roller coaster lately, SSDD (same s&^%, different day!). High, then low. Then low, then high. Then low, then extremely high....

He has been acting okay, so it doesn't look like ketoacidosis is going to rear its ugly head anytime soon (knock on wood!). As much as I complain about him being unregulated, he is doing really, REALLY good. He has almost gained back all of the weight he lost (about a pound more to go!), he has his appetite back, he's playful with Bella again, he cuddles and whines and eats poop - everything is pretty much back to normal.

I know I need to be thankful for all of these things, but I can't help but wonder what he will be like once his sugar problems are under control. Will he be more playful? Will he stop eating poop (haha - a girl can dream, can't she?)? Will he not be tired all the time? Or will absolutely nothing change? It seems like the change in him from when we got him - almost a year ago - to now is extraordinary. We thought he was probably an older dog due to his lack of energy (regardless of what the rescue organization said), but now we know it was due to the diabetes. But now, he plays, he runs, he attacks Bella (instead of the other way around!) - he is fighting back. And that makes me love him even more.

  1. Glad to hear Buzz is doing well in spite of the diabetes! Nice car! Is it a Ford Escape? That's one of my favorite car models. I laughed when I read your remarks about him eating poop! I'm so glad none of our dogs are poop eaters!

  2. Congrats guys! J is too excited to come see the car. Oh, he might want to see D too. Maybe, just a little. Ok, he's been chomping at the bit with excitement like a kid before Christmas.

  3. @Elyse - yeah its an Escape. We got a great deal on it and love it! It's hard w/a #2 eater. And hes like a poo snob, he will only eat his own frozen #2. I can't wait for winter to be over!

@G - Buzz won't stop cuddling w/J.. he's so happy to see him!
